About Nice Threads

My name's Suzanne and I live in Dundonald, just outside of Belfast, with my husband, Stephen, and my kids, Cora and Tom. I was taught to embroider by my Nana when she would look after my brother and I every day after primary school. However, I really started to develop my skills as an embroiderer when I found myself redundant as a result of the pandemic. Creating embroideries as gifts for friends and family was a great outlet at the end of a long day of homeschooling.

In September 2020, with schools reopening, I decided to lean into my love of embroidery and explore the potential for Nice Threads to become more than a hobby. And now here I am! I have hand-sewn over one hundred bespoke embroideries for customers from across the UK and Ireland, as well as France, Greece and North America. I love to create beautiful and personal embroideries that celebrate all of life's precious moments.

Hand-made gifts are vastly more precious, personal and ethical than mass-produced products, manufactured thousands of miles away, in questionable working conditions.

My focus is on designing and creating bespoke, unique embroideries that celebrate significant life experiences and precious moments. These hand-sewn pieces bring beauty into people's homes and, because of the sustainable nature of embroidery, my hope is that they become life-long keepsakes or heirlooms.

Each piece is inspired by the stunning variety of Irish wildflowers we can find on our doorstep, the areas of outstanding natural beauty that we are surrounded by and the importance of connectedness with one another through shared memories and moments.
